How Hard Water Forms

Hard water is commonly caused by a prevalence of the minerals calcium and magnesium (as well as other metal cations) present in the source of your water. It's often created as surface water gradually percolates through layers of limestone and chalk beneath the ground.

Water Softening Process

Our ion-exchange water softening systems work by replacing calcium and magnesium ions with sodium ions. First, hard water is passed through a chamber of sodium ion coated resin based beads. In the chamber, calcium and magnesium ions are exchanged with sodium ions, removing the most common sources of water hardness. The conditioned (softened) water then flows to various points of use throughout your home. The result is softer water that makes a difference you can see and feel!
